About me

MY STORY

Drumming as a legacy

Growing up in a small town near Paris with a drummer for a dad (who was also a drum teacher), I was practically born with drumsticks in my hands! I started playing at a really young age, and back then, I was all about metal, rock, and pop—jamming to classics by Metallica, AC/DC, or Michael Jackson. I played my first concert when I was around 7 or 8, probably rocking out to an AC/DC song with my brother on guitar.

(Yes, I am missing a few teeth in that picture)

Expanding Musical Taste

As I grew older, I got to explore more genres like heavy, prog and death metal (Gojira, Dream Theater, Slayer), New Orleans jazz, latin-jazz fusion (Dave Weckl!). I also started taking private lessons which eventually led me to this crazy concert with 30 other drummers on stage (picture on left). It was a big moment for 11-year-old me.

The Big move

In 2017, my family made a huge decision—we packed up and moved to what felt like a whole new world: Canada. More specifically, Vancouver. It was there, in high school, that I met one of the most inspiring music teachers, Mr. Carter. He introduced me to jazz, African, and Afro-Cuban music, and his passion for teaching completely changed the way I approached playing. He pushed me to practice harder, gave me extra opportunities to perform, and ultimately helped me get into McGill's Schulich School of Music. Ever since, I've dreamed of becoming the kind of teacher he was for me.

My life in Montreal

Shortly after starting my jazz performance program, I began performing at local venues and teaching private lessons, all while developing a deep interest in music psychology. Today, my goal is to make a positive impact on my community—whether through teaching, performing, or exploring the health and developmental benefits of music through psychology and cognitive neuroscience.

Right now, I’m finishing my Bachelor's in Jazz Performance with a minor in Psychology, and I’m excited for what’s next!
